Frequently asked questions
- What happens in the first session?
- Mostly listening. We talk about what brought you in, a bit of relevant
history, and what you'd like to be different. You don't need to prepare or have
it figured out beforehand.
- How long will I be in therapy?
- It varies a lot. Some people come for a specific issue and finish in a few
months; others stay longer for deeper work. We review how it's going regularly
and you're free to stop whenever you want.
- What does "LPC Associate" mean?
- I've completed my master's degree and licensing exam and am completing
supervised clinical hours toward full licensure. My work is overseen by
Jaime Telfeyan, LPC-S, an
approved clinical supervisor.
- Is what I say confidential?
- Yes, with narrow legal exceptions — risk of serious harm to yourself or
someone else, suspected abuse of a child or vulnerable adult, and court orders.
Because I practice under supervision, my supervisor also reviews clinical work.
The full detail is in the Notice of Privacy Practices.
- Do you prescribe medication?
- No. Counselors don't prescribe. If medication seems worth exploring I can
coordinate with your physician or a psychiatric provider.
- Do you offer telehealth?
- Yes, by secure video, for clients located in Texas.
- What if I need help between sessions?
- This practice is not a crisis service and messages are not monitored around
the clock. If you need immediate help, call or text 988,
or call 911.
- What is your therapy style like?
- Relaxed and conversational. I'll ask thoughtful questions, share
observations, gently challenge unhelpful patterns when appropriate, and
celebrate your wins along the way. I want our work together to feel genuine,
personal, and connected.
